Sorry … this posted an hour early because of the time change thing … Let’s try again. If you’re reading this and it’s 1:00 p.m. EST, Noon CST, 11:00 a.m. MST or 10:00 a.m. PST, then this is all good!! Sheesh … I didn’t know I had to be a time genius to blog LOL.
It’s Week 7 in the Blogger Idol competition. The assignment is to share a secret or something our readers don’t know about us. I thought about going this route:
I was the one who clogged the toilet. It was me, Dad! I’m the reason you called us kids to the bathroom wanting to make one of us confess to the poop crime. I’m the reason you needed to use your bare hand to fish a giant turd out of the toilet!! OK! So I need stool softeners and laxatives. Is that what you wanted to hear?! Are you happy now, Dad??! (*and, for the record, you didn’t NEED to use your bare hand for that … they make gloves, you know!!)
But that’s not what I wrote about. Nope.
I considered this as well:
I was so excited. I had just passed my driver’s test and got my license. It was the first time I took the car all by myself. No responsible licensed driver in the passenger’s seat overseeing me. I was on my own. I was looking for any reason to drive the car. Anything at all. So I took it to a car wash. I sat, filled with glee, while the suds cascaded down the windshield. I was giddy with excitement as the sprayers pummeled the grime from the car. I could barely contain myself as the dryers blasted the car with hot air. As I exited the car wash, beaming with pride, I drove immediately and directly into the side of a car parked along the curb.
Also not the route I took.
Instead I shared a serious story … one that involves my kids, a delusional woman and the police. I hope you’ll read it … and I’d love to have your vote. [Click HERE to go to Blogger Idol to read my post and to VOTE!!]
This week there’s a double elimination … TWO of us are going to be cut from the competition.
Being honest–revealing something else about myself–I never thought I’d make it this far. I thought I didn’t have the chops to keep up with the other competitors because I’m so new to this gig, comparatively speaking. But, you know what, I’m feeling excited about it … and I’m feeling like maybe, just maybe, I do have a shot at this thing. I’ve learned a lot in seven weeks with Blogger Idol and I feel like I might just do alright. False sense of confidence? Maybe … but at this point I’m writing and fighting and I’m In It To Win It!! And with your help, I might be able to pull this off!
(Another reveal, it’s pretty uncomfortable for me to say that I might be good at this. I love writing this blog. I love the interactions with people reading it too. But I wasn’t so sure I was really good at it, comparing myself to veteran writers and bloggers out there. I’ve felt like a baby deer on wobbly legs–still getting my balance, standing and figuring things out … but I AM feeling pretty good about it all. Like maybe I’m ready to run around a little bit.)
The polls are open NOW until 11:59 p.m. CST Thursday, November 14th. Knowing that there are two of us going this week, I need ALL the help I can get!! You can vote once per IP address–so get on every computer, smart phone, iPad and tablet you can find and VOTE!
(One last reveal–I am so crazy uncomfortable pimping for votes. Seriously. It feels very awkward to me and I don’t like it. But, I am learning a little bit about pushing myself out of my comfort zone and doing things I wouldn’t normally do to achieve a goal. And that’s a good thing, right?!)
Now, what are you waiting for??! Click right HERE and go check out this week’s post … and VOTE, please. Pretty, pretty please.
