It happened to me … don’t let it happen to you too!!
I took the Girl to a doctor appointment and then was going to pick up Hubbinator’s car from the service garage. I noticed the battery on my phone was getting low: 12%. Eeeek! Good thing I can charge up when I return this loaner and get my car back ……… oh, crap!! I’m not getting MY car, I’m picking up HIS!! Dammit! No biggie. I just won’t use my phone at all. Save it for an emergency. Please, Baby Jesus, no emergencies, k?
I got everything squared away to return the loaner and pick up Hubbinator’s car. 9% Gah! Why does the battery always die faster when it’s low??!? We left the garage and the Girl and I were back on the road. Car Dance Party in full swing. About a mile into the trip, the Check Engine light came on. MotherClucker! So I called the garage. “Bring the car back, I’ll give you the loaner again and we’ll get this figured out.” No problem. 7%
After dropping his car off, the Girl and I were back on the road. Car Dance Party in full swing. (Hmmm, this feels familiar.) My phone rings. 5% Shiiiiit! I answer. It’s the garage calling. “Do you have the key to his car? I don’t see it anywhere?” Of course not, I’m sure I left it in the ignition. Why would I take the key? That doesn’t make sense. …….. Oh, wait. It’s in my pocket. Are you flipping kidding me?!?? 3%
After dropping his key off (ahem), the Girl and I were back on the road. Car Dance Party in full swing. (DEJA VU … for the 3rd freaking time. Oh, did I mention this was all happening in the middle of Pittsburgh? On a Friday? At 5 pm? So, yeah, the traffic was super fun.)
0%. Dead. 100% Dead. No problem. If there’s an emergency, we’ll use the Girl’s phone. “Can you text Daddy to let him know that we won’t be home until at least 6:30? I don’t want him to think we’re dead in a ditch.” One problem: her phone died too. Oh. Super.
